Summer Events: A children’s workshop

Saturday 22nd May

A children’s workshop for ages 8 to 12 exploring the Jupiter Artland collection on paper led by Sara Gough.

Sara is an artist and teacher whose aim is to encourage all her students to find inspiration in the creative process. While observing,recording ,and developing techniques are essential, making art should be an enjoyable and energising experience,with room for fun and experimentation.

During the past twelve years Sara has worked with West Lothian Council, Artlink Central and the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School, teaching and leading art projects which are educational and theraputic.

Performance of poetry on the Jencks landform

Friday 11th June

Ash Dickinson (www.ashdickinson.com) who has performed everywhere from Radio 4 national poetry slams to many rock and literary festivals will perform in the amphitheatre area of the Jencks. He will be joined by another eminent Edinburgh slam poet Jenny Lindsay.

7 to 10pm barbeque. £20 a head

 

Foraging workshop with Xa Milne and Fiona Houston

Wednesday 23rd June

They have run workshops in Scotland and wrote a monthly column in the Saturday Telegraph on their foraging adventures which developed into their popular book “Seaweed and eat it”. See their website www.foragerangers.com.
 
We will walk around the woods and fields looking at the wonderful sculpture and identifying flora that can be used in the recipes they have created. After the walk there will be a tasting session and everyone will be free to have a picnic in the Artland.
 
The day will run from 11 to 1pm followed by time to enjoy the Artland and have picnic until 2pm (please bring your own!). The cost of the day is £20.

 

An evening walk

Saturday 26th June

An evening walk around the collection followed by a delicious picnic provided by us to take to your favourite spot in the Artland. Please bring your own rug or picnic chairs.

Summer Event

Thursday 8th July

This all day Artsparks workshop for children aged 5 upwards will look at Jim Lambie’s work Zobop floor. We will make large artworks using vinyl tape in response to the artwork. Cost is £40 which includes all materials but please bring your own lunch.

A talk by Nathan Coley on his major new work "In Memory" commissioned for Year Two at Jupiter Artland. After the talk there will be an opportunity to have an evening walk around the collection.

Edinburgh Festival Events: Outdoor weaving workshop

Saturday 28th August

Shane Waltener is a craft-based artist, with work in the Jupiter collection, who has long experience of leading fun and inspiring workshops for all ages. This outdoor workshop will explore his radical weaving techniques.
 
For all ages - 11am to 4pm with a one hour lunch break. £15 and admission. Book now for this event.
